Living Situation

How is your living situation? Would you like a male roommate who is financially secure and gone most of the time? Well if you lived in the Boston area you might get your chance. Chad Ochocinco is at it again, this time he is seeking a fan to move in with for two or three weeks of the season. Chad wants to live with a fan until he gets acclimated with his surroundings. A few things he requests for his new home is you have to have the internet and have an Xbox. Chad was asked if he was serious and he replied, “Have I ever lied to you before.” Yesterday was the second time Chad spoke to reporters, the first time he asked for a hug and this time he asks for a home.

So lets put out this question, who would you let live at your house for a few weeks or for a lifetime? Just think about having Chad, Payton, Ben, Tom, Chris or Randy living with you. If you had kids, they could take them to show and tell. Would you have to make a space for them in your home? Would you have to clean up for them? Would you call your neighbors to let them know who is staying at your house? Would you have a neighborhood cookout to show them off? I would guess we would say yes to every question.

Now what about Jesus? Are we doing the same things with him? Does our kids take him to school for show and tell? Have you made space in your heart for him? Have you told your neighbors he is living in you? Have you invited them over to share Jesus with them?  I’m not sure if we would all say yes to these questions. We really need to look inside our house, our heart, and examine it. “Examine yourselves, to see whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Or do you not realize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless indeed you fail to meet the test! I hope you will find out that we have not failed the test.”  (2 Corinthians 13:5-6) Paul prayed for the Ephesus church in Ephesians 3:14-19: For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, beingrooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.”

If Christ is dwelling in your life do others see it? Chad might want to live with a fan in New England, but Jesus wants to live with you eternally. The question is will you let him and if he is already, do others see him in your life? Christ is the best roommate you will ever have in your life. He even cleans up your trash by his blood that he shed for us on the cross.
