God Always Lives Up to the Hype

Over the past week, the Philadelphia Eagles have been the hot team in free agency. They have brought in some key free agents in CB Nnamdi Asomugha, DE Cullen Jenkins, RB Ronnie Brown, and even QB Vince Young to backup Michael Vick. Young has even called the team the “dream team”. Most of the NFL experts have bought into Young’s statement, calling this team the favorites to hoist the Lombardi Trophy in Indianapolis in February. However, not everybody is so thrilled with all the attention the high flying Eagles are getting.

Just take a look at the comments that Dallas Cowboys’ defensive coordinator Rob Ryan gave to reporters on Monday about the hype the Eagles have received. He told the media “I’ve got three bullies over there waiting for Thursday,” Rob Ryan said. “These are proven players, and that’s what we need. I don’t know if we win the all-hype team, I think that might have gone to somebody else.” Ryan is bringing some juice into the Cowboys-Eagles rivalry, but we should expect that from him and his brother Rex Ryan, head coach of the New York Jets. Dallas has a chip on their shoulder with Tony Romo back at QB and everyone picking the Eagles to win the division. Will Philly live up the hype? That remains to be seen.

The one thing that we always know is when God says something, He always backs it up. He will ALWAYS live up to the hype. Our Almighty Father fulfills every promise and guarantee that He makes. Just read through the book of Isaiah. The Lord speaks to Isaiah about the Savior saying that He will be born of a virgin, suffer for our iniquities, and be rejected amongst His fellow Jews. Now, the people of that time interpreted it differently, but God got EVERYTHING correct.

There is one guarantee He gives to us that we should never forget, especially in the tough times that face our country today. It comes from the unknown author of Hebrews, where it says “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” (Hebrews 13:6) This verse is so powerful because in the dire circumstances we face, we can look to the Lord for strength and know that our Savior is always with us!

Today, I exhort you to look to the Lord when people don’t think you can do anything. The Eagles are one of the favorites, but we know that anything can happen when the Lord is with us. Remember the Lord told Mary “For nothing will be impossible with God.”(Luke 1:37). I pray that you keep looking to the Lord, who will deliver on all the promises and guarantee s that He tells you.
